Villagers in Kachechete Ward outside Victoria Falls were left in shock after a woman caught her husband and daughter having sex in a bush.
It turned out the two had been having a sexual relationship behind her back since June last year.
The incestuous lovers, Siphilanzima Sibanda (49) of Kachechete village BH36 Chidobe and his stepdaughter Thuleleni Dube (34) have been jointly charged with having sexual intercourse with a prohibited degree of relationship.
They are expected to appear at the Vctoria Falls magistrates’ court today.
State papers show that Sibanda and Dube started the relationship in June last year when his wife Sikhohlisiwe Mpofu, the mother to Dube, had travelled to Bulawayo to visit her sister.
She returned in September, but did not see the incestuous affair until last week.
“On a date unknown but during the period extending from 1 June 2022 to 2 January 2023 and at Kachechete village, Chidobe Chief Mvuthu, Siphilanzima Sibanda had sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter Thuleleni Dube several times on different occasions with her consent,” prosecutors allege.
The matter came to light when Mpofu discovered the affair and confronted her husband who confessed about it.
On her return, Mpofu observed that husband’s behaviour had changed but did not suspect anything.
She caught the two red-handed having sexual intercourse in a bush on December 27 and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the two.
They were not asked to plead when they appeared before resident magistrate Godswill Mavenge who remanded them out of custody.
