The Traditional Medical Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (TMPCZ) on Tuesday announced that all traditional health practitioners must be registered to practice by the end of March.
In a statement, TMPCZ, under the Ministry of Health and Child Care established that it is a legal requirement for traditional medical practitioners to register in terms of the Traditional Medical Practitioners Act Chapter 27:14.
“We expect that by the end of March 2023 all legal abiding practitioners will have paid their practicing license. ” the statement read.
The required categories to register included traditional healers, faith healers such as prophets and apostles, bishops, traditional birth attendants, churches, herbalists, traditional surgeries and clinics, training institutions and traditional wholesalers among others.
TMPCZ stipulated that traditional medical practitioners who are found practicing without licenses could be fined as much as US$400 or be jailed for a period not exceeding two years or both.
