A 52-year-old Victoria Falls taxi driver has been arrested for slapping a school boy who blocked his way while cycling to school.
Edson Chisare from Mkhosana high density suburb appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Linda Dzvene charged with contravening Section 89 (1) (a) and the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 9: 23 (assault).
Chisare pleaded guilty, leading to his conviction.
Prosecutor Audrey Mukanganya said on November 8 at around 7AM and at Shalom Primary School, the taxi who was driving past the school was blocked by the 12-year-old pupil who was riding a bicycle.
The boy wanted to cycle into the school grounds.
βThis did not go down well with the accused who then disembarked from his car and assaulted the complainant on the face twice with open hands,β Mukanganya said.
According to a medical report produced in court, the pupil did not sustain any permanent injuries following the assault.
Dzvene adjourned Chisareβs case pending sentencing after he submits his mitigation.
Prosecutors did not bother calling the witness after the plea of guilt by the accused.
