A Victoria Falls woman died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle walking along Livingstone Way on Sunday morning.
According to police, the victim identified as Belinda Sate was hit by a motorist driving towards Mkhosana along the same road while the now deceased was walking towards the city
centre.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda said Sate was walking in the middle of the road when the accident occurred around 5am.
“On 5 February around 6am the sole party made a report to the police, “Banda told VicFallsLive.
Circumstances are that around 5am, the sole party was driving to the west and when she was near Sprayview Hotel, she hit the
pedestrian who was walking on the centre of the road going due East and she fell onto the tarmac and died on the spot,” said Insp Banda.
Police said the deceased died from head injuries and her body was taken toVictoria Falls Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The driver, a teacher at a local school, was not injured.
Her car sustained a deformed front bonnet and shattered windscreen.
The car was towed to the VID for inspection.
