A self-proclaimed prophet has been arrested for raping a 19-year-old girl who approached him seeking divine help.
The accused, Zireva Solomon, was taken into custody today, after the survivor came forward to report the crime.
The accused is a resident of Gwabalanda, and had been masquerading as a prophet, offering cleansing rituals and spiritual guidance to unsuspecting individuals.
According to the police report, the survivor had visited his residence on October 10, to deliver a white cloth for cleansing purposes.
The accused then instructed her to follow him to his shrine in Magwegwe North, where he prayed for her and then ordered her to lie on the white cloth with her eyes closed.
He then removed her pants and raped her twice without protection.
The survivor, traumatized and fearful, did not report the incident to anyone until yesterday, when she finally found the courage to go to the police and was arrested the next day and is currently facing charges of rape.
Police have warned the public about false prophets who prey on vulnerable individuals seeking spiritual guidance, emphasizing the importance of spiritual understanding and awareness to prevent such exploitation.
