The Zimbabwe Republic Police expressed concern over rising murder cases, often resulting from domestic disputes, extra-marital affairs, and petty issues. Some cases involved minors aged 7-17 in fatal altercations while playing or doing chores.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with the number of murder cases…,” police shared on X. “Murder cases also stem from clashes at beer drinking places, witchcraft allegations, and debt disputes. We recorded cases where minors aged 7-17 killed each other while playing or doing chores like running or playing soccer.”
Investigations continue into cases like the July 20 murder at Bigest Farm, Tengwe, where Liberty Chimurambi (28) stabbed his wife Aphocine Mandimutsa (24) before committing suicide.
On July 21, Thembelihle Maphosa (22) was arrested in connection with Timothy Ncube’s (25) murder at Mahaja Extension, Ntabazinduna.
Ezekiel Chibvongodze (29) stabbed his wife Mitchel Evelyn Katakwe (25) and son Tawana Chibvongodze (5) with an okapi knife at Nyameni, Marondera.
The police seek information leading to Disco Mubonesi’s (29) arrest for burning his aunt’s hut, accusing her of witchcraft, and stabbing her.
Senge Ncube (45) was found with multiple injuries at Mbali Business Centre, Plumtree, on July 19.
The police urge peaceful conflict resolution and respect for human life, calling on community leaders to promote a culture of law-abiding citizens.
