A youthful Ziyabaluma Football Club pulled one of the shocking results over the weekend beating Legends team 3-2 in the Chidobe Kachecheti Football League.

Ziyabaluma, which is built around young secondary school boys from Mvuthu outside Victoria Falls, played a game of their lives thanks to their veteran striker Gordin Moyo, who scored a brace.

The team’s coach Zamani Mpofu described the result as a shock for other teams in the newly formed league.

“l guess this is a dream win for us and a shocking result for other teams in the league,” Mpofu said.

“No one expected us to win a single match in this competitive league, but here we are with three points in the bag and position five in the league.”

Meanwhile, dominant Masters brushed aside helpless Power Giants by half a dozen goals without a reply.

The win kept Masters top with a 100 percent winning record in their first three matches.

Across the village at Sizanani Stadium, Ajax came from behind to beat Mopane 2-1 in an exciting match on Sunday afternoon.

After taking an early lead through Mzikayise Mpofu, Mopane blew the chance to take a healthy lead when they missed a penalty in the thirty eight minute mark leaving the scoreline at 1-0 going to the breather.

The second half belonged to Ajax, who scored two quick goals to win the match.

Despite the defeat, Mopane had their heads high with a blinder of a performance that left everybody calling for more.

The win took Ajax to fourth on the log and left Mopane rooted at the bottom with no points in their two matches.

In the Mvuthu League Power Stars were too strong for Red Wipers whom they beat 2-0 bill, thanks to Derrick Weza’s header and a Passmore Ngwenya goal.
