This weekend, the Parliament of Zimbabwe’s Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care is hosting a workshop in Masvingo focused on the Medical Services Amendment Bill.
The workshop has drawn over 60 participants from various sectors, including the Parliament of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Health, civil society, and international development partners.
The Minister and Deputy Minister of Health are also in attendance.
The main objective of the workshop is to delve into the key proposals of the Bill, which seeks to align the original Medical Services Act (Chapter 5:13) with the 2013 national Constitution.
The Bill primarily focuses on ensuring that all citizens have access to basic healthcare services across Zimbabwe.
The public is encouraged to propose amendments to the original Act during this opportunity.
In October, the Portfolio Committee on Health and Childcare will conduct public hearings nationwide to gather input on the Bill.
