A 29-year-old disabled man from Victoria Falls has been charged for allegedly raping a minor.
The accused, whose identity cannot be disclosed to protect the victim, allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl on October 1.
Prosecutors said the man who resides in one of the city’s high-density suburbs “unlawfully and knowingly had sexual intercourse once with the minor knowing that she had not consented to it or realising that there is a real risk or possibility that she might not have consented to it.”
Resident magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa granted the man bail of $5 000 on condition that he reside at his given address until the matter is finalised.
He was also ordered not to interfere with state witnesses and to surrender his travel documents in addition to reporting every fortnight on Friday at the Victoria Falls police station between 6AM and 6PM.
The man, who is being represented by Muvhiringi and Associates, will be back in court on November 4.
