Hwange police has arrested three Grain Marketing Board (GMB) employees accused of stealing presidential input scheme fertilisers worth US$7 000.
Police in a statement said the trio was arrested last week for allegedly stealing 190 by 50 kilograms of the fertilisers meant to benefit Hwange district farmers.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of three Grain Marketing Board (GMB) employees, Philani Ndlovu (47), Calvin Kuedzisa (22) and Tafara Kudengeya in connection with a case of theft of 190 by 50kgs fertilisers meant for the Presidential Input (Pfumvudza) Scheme which occurred on 26/01/23 in Hwange, “police said.
” The total value stolen is USD7 000.00 and USD6 631.60 was recovered. “
Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo on Thursday arrested Bulawayo arrested two suspects, Obvious Moyo (38) and Amon Mpofu (32) in connection with a case of rape which occurred during the night between Wednesday and Thursday where they took turns to rape a 13-year-old juvenile after intoxicating her.
“The suspects took advantage of a desperate female juvenile (13), intoxicated her and took turns to rape the victim,”
“The victim’s aunt had sent her to meet a relative who did not show up.”
Police warned parents and guardians to avoid sending their children to stranger’s places as they risk being victims of related crimes.
