A 63-year-old Victoria Falls man has been arraigned before the courts alongside his 20 year-old daughter in law for having a sexual relationship that saw the woman contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STIs)
The relationship between Siso Mpofu and Concilia Tshuma from Chidobe Village was discovered after Tshuma’s husband contracted STIs from his wife, who went on to blame her father in law for the infection.
Mpofu and Tshuma appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Godswill Mavenge on Monday facing charges of having sexual intercourse within a prohibited degree of relationship.
They both pleaded guilty to the offence.
Prosecutors said sometime in December last year and at Mpofu’s homestead, the two had sexual intercourse several times and on different occasions.
The matter came to light when Tshuma’s husband Cornelius Dube discovered the affair after cornering his wife to reveal whom she had slept with after he had been been diagnosed with STIs.
Dube told the court that Mpofu was his uncle.
The two were remanded out of custody, and will appear in court for their sentence today.
