Monde beat log leaders Trumus to boost promotion chances

Monde United beat log leaders Trumus Academy 2-0 in an entertaining Matebeleland North Division 2 league to go third in the race for top spot.

Playing before a capacity crowd at Dakwe Stadium, Monde did all what was needed to subdue a determined Trumus who had come for nothing but victory to maintain their top spot on the log.

Trumus who are still sitting top of the log despite their defeat, fell to two good goals from Terrence Ncube and Augustine Chunga,  both assisted by man of the match Amos Ndlovu.

The win took Monde United to third position on the three points behind the log leaders and two to the second placed Classic Luyando who are on forty two points.

The league race, which is in 20 gives Monde an advantage for a ticket into division one with four matches to play.

Three of their last matches are at home.

Meanwhile, second placed Classic Luyando continued  with their winning streak with a comfortable 2-1 away win to Golden Lions Sao Paulo beat relegation candidates Discovery by three goals to nothing to maintain their fourth spot in the log standing.

At the bottom of the log, Breakaway eased their relegation worries with a five nil hiding of log anchors Victoria Falls Academy.

The win takes them a point away from being safe and they need to win all their remaining matches to stay safe.

As the league race nears the finishing line, all eyes will be on Monde United ,a rural club that has been there for the honours from day one and they will be the first team to qualify for first division football in the area.

All remains to be seen how the boys in red will handle themselves in the last four matches.
