Masters beat Dragons to go top of the log

Masters Football Club cruised past log leaders Dragons, beating them 2-1 in an entertaining Chidobe Kachecheti Football League match played at Sinyore Stadium on Sunday.

Masters, who went to the match placed third on the table  and two points behind Dragons, made sure their title intentions were felt as early as the seventeenth minute when top scorer Chrispen Tembo lurched on to a pass from the right to beat Njabulo Ndlovu in goals for Dragon.

After the goal Dragon piled on the pressure in search of the equaliser, which they duly gotwhen in a bid to clear their lines, Masters fell asleep and allowed an unmarked Mqabuko Ndlovu to head home three minutes before the break.

In the second half it was missed chance after chance as Dragons tried to still victory but lady luck fell to Masters, with everyone thinking of a draw match, Chrispen Tembo beat two defenders before unleashing a thunderbolt that beat Dragon goalkeeper, much to the celebrations of Masters’ supporters.

The win takes Masters top of the log on sixteen points, one ahead of Dragon and three ahead of third placed Lupinyo Bullets.

In another match on Saturday Zamalek continued to claw back to winning ways beating Ziyabaluma three zero at Sinyore Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from British Weza, who scored a brace, and Derrick Weza was all that Zamalek needed to collect first away points of the season.

Elsewhere Mopane edged Legends five goals to zero with Ajax collecting three soft points after Power Giants failed to turn up for the match.
