A 21-year-old Kezi man in Matabeleland South Province died Thursday after he was allegedly stabbed by the barman after stealing a bottle of whiskey.
Police on Saturday confirmed the arrest of barman Wilson Mugandi (25) for the murder of Mduduzi Moyo who died after sustaining multiple knife stab wounds.
“Police in Kezi have arrested a bar attendant, Wilson Mugandi (25) in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 22/12/22 at a bar at Donkwe Donkwe Business Centre,” police said.
Police said the accused attacked the victim in retaliation after being confronted for stealing a bottle of whiskey.
“The suspect stabbed the victim, Mduduzi Moyo (21), with an okapi knife on the chest, thigh and waist after alleging that the victim had attacked him using a catapult before stealing a bottle of whisky from the bar.”
