Herds of stray cattle are a permanent sight in Hwange town especially along the highway between by-pass garage on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road and the central business district.

The cattle will be grazing on the ever green loan grass and vegetation.

Hwange town is administered by different local authorities including Hwange Local Board, Hwange Colliery Company, Zimbabwe Power Company and National Railways of Zimbabwe.
