Hwange eyeing swift PSL return

Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Hwange Football Club will be seeking to strengthen their position in the title race when they meet Mainline in a Southern Region Division one soccer fixture this afternoon.

The coal miners, who have been collecting points in their opening nine fixtures, will want to do the same as they seek an early return to the top flight league.

Hwange, the only team with premiership experience has shown hunger for success compared to other teams in the same division such as Zimbabwe Saints.

The team will bank on the lethal strike force of Ben Musaka and Wellington Nyoni to deliver the much needed results.

Hwange coach Bongani Mafu played down his team’s ambitions this season.

“We take each game as it comes,” Mafu said.  “We don’t want to give ourselves what does not belong to us.”

The team from Hwange sit on 21 points, two ahead of Arenel who have a tricky fixture again Bosso90 this weekend.

Meanwhile, Victoria Falls based Mosi Rovers will take a short trip to Hwange to face Zimbabwe Power Company Hwange in a match expected to produce fireworks.

Mosi Rovers will be buoyed by their win against Emakhandeni Pirates last Saturday and will need nothing short of victory to keep their hopes alive in the title race.

Other Saturday fixtures will see Ajax Hotspur play Talen Vision while Binga Pirates hosting Ratanang.
