Good start for Masters and Dragon as Zamalek falters

Masters Football Club emerged the biggest winners in week one ofthe Chidobe Kachecheti Football League when they trounced Ziyabaluma 4-0 at Sinyore Stadium on Saturday.

Masters dominated play from the first whistle and in the end they were worth the three points.

Dragon who were the Mvuthu Soccer League champions last season got off to a flying start when they beat Power Giants 3-0 at Number Five grounds on Sunday.

In Lupinyo, the home side Lupinyo Bullets beat Mopane by a solitary strike from Khulumani Mathe who scored after 35 minutes of play.

The match that was watched by a full house was one of the highlights of the weekend fixtures with great football on show at Lupinyo stadium.

In another match at Sizanani Stadium, Zamalek got off to a poor start after going down 0-3 to Ajax.

Zamalek, which is rebuilding gave one of its best performances, but failed to beat Ajax, despite taking an early lead in the first half through Meluleki Ncube.

Ajax came back strong in the second half and equalised through man of the match Phathisa Nyathi.

Three minutes later it was 2-1 thanks to a good finish by Gladwell Ndlovu before Nyathi completed the important win for Ajax.

Zamalek scored a face-saver with three minutes to go to make the scoreline respectable, through Makhosini Dube.

Meanwhile, the Mvuthu Soccer League kicked off the same weekend with Red Wipers losing at home to Black Leopard with Power stars beating Ndlovu United 3-2.
