A 41-year-old Victoria Falls man has been fined $50 000 of stabbing his 60 year-old girlfriend after accusing her of engaging in prostitution and abusing alcohol.
Gift Mwale also stabbed Beauty Ncube’s 35 year-old daughter whom he accused of initiating her mother into prostitution and his nephew who tried to stop his rampage.
Mwale on Thursday appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Godswill Mavenge facing three counts of domestic violence.
He pleaded guilty to all the charges.
Prosecutors said on August 18 and at around 11PM, Mwale and Ncube had a misunderstanding over an unknown issue at the woman’s Chinotimba house.
Mwale then stabbed Ncube with a nail cutter once on top of his left eye, once on the right shoulder and on the left cheek.
On September 12 at around 7PM, Mwale had another misunderstanding with Ncube’s daughter Silisiwe Ncube after accusing her of teaching her mother to be a prostitute.
“The accused then bit the complainant once on her small finger on the right hand,” court records say.
“On September 13 the accused had another misunderstanding with Selina Mwale and when Moses Miti (19) tried to refrain him from stabbing her.
“That is when he was stabbed with a knife by the accused once on the right shoulder.”
Both complainants were medically examined and the records were produced in court.
In his defence, Mwale said he got upset when he went to his rural home for three months and found his girlfriend drinking heavily at bars and engaging in prostitution.
Mavenge sentenced him to six months in jail, which was suspended to a fine of $50 000 for all offences.
The condition for the fine was that he is supposed to pay the money by September 30, failure to which he will go to jail for 30 days.
