Sunset serenade on the Zambezi

As the golden hour approached, 4PM, our team of journalists from VicFallsLive set off on a leisurely boat cruise along the majestic Zambezi River.

The sun cast its warm glow on the rippling waters as we embarked on our two-hour journey, weaving through the river’s three channels.

The atmosphere was alive with the sweet songs of various bird species, their melodies intertwining with the gentle lapping of the water against the boat’s hull.

As we glided along, we found ourselves in the company of some incredible wildlife.

Elephants roamed the riverbanks, their gray silhouettes glistening in the fading light. Hippos and crocodiles broke the surface of the water, their eyes curiously watching our passage. We even spotted a few elephants grazing on the lush vegetation that lines the riverbanks.

Our cruise took us past boats from both Zambia and Zimbabwe, their occupants laughing and chatting as they took in the breathtaking views.

The sense of camaraderie was palpable, with strangers becoming fast friends as they shared in the wonder of this African paradise.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we were treated to a sumptuous spread of snacks and beverages, expertly prepared by our hosts.

The refreshments only added to the magic of the moment, as we sipped and savored our way through the remaining minutes of daylight.

The Zambezi River, one of Africa’s most iconic waterways, stretches over 2 500 kilometers from its source in Zambia to its delta in Mozambique.

Its waters have witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations, and its beauty has inspired countless generations of explorers, artists, and adventurers.

As our boat cruise came to a close, we felt grateful to have experienced the Zambezi’s splendor firsthand.
