The Reds, as they are affectionately called, had a very productive weekend winning both of their matches.

Last Saturday, they beat village rivals CerClass by three goals to nil in a tense match.

The Reds got all of their goals from Taurai Ncube, who scored a brace with Mtshumayeli Moyo getting the third.

The win takes them close to leaders Dragons after also beating Lupinyo City four goals to one on Sunday, leaving them comfortably sitting on 59 points, six points behind Dragon with a game in hand as well.

The log leaders suffered a huge setback after drawing one all at Masters Sinyore Stadium on Saturday, although they managed to beat Mopane 1-0 on Sunday.

With three matches to play and the composition of fixtures that are remaining for both sides, Red Wipers look stronger and hungrier.

They are left with Ndlovu, Masters and Black Bulls and had a walkover against Moro Moro.

For Dragons, the fixtures will be tough as they will be facing fifth placed Lupinyo City, fourth placed Zamalek and Supper Eagles.

In other matches, Zamalek collected six points for the third week running, overrunning Power Stars four goals to nil on Saturday before making easy work of Ndlovu United on Sunday.

Thinkwell Weza scored three goals in both matches, two on Saturday and one on Sunday to take his tally of goals to 41 this season.

The highest number a single player has ever scored in the Mvuthu League since its establishment was Standard Weza again from Zamalek who hit 37 goals a season in 2004 .

The two victories took them to fourth on the table with 54 points, two behind Ajax who were held to a goalless draw on Sunday by Lupinyo City before hammering troubled CerClass four goals to one on Sunday at Sizanani Stadium.

Elsewhere, Wounded Buffaloes beat Black Bulls five goals to nil on Sunday, with Black Leopard and Masters settling for a draw on the same day.

Ndlovu United were held to a 1 all draw by Eagles on Saturday.

In junior football, Ndlovu United are set to be champions if the two chasing teams fail to win their matches in hand.

Ndlovu United juniors sit at the top with 25 points , a point ahead of second placed Red Wipers juniors, who have a match in hand.

There is only one game to go and it remains to be seen whether the young stars from Ndlovu United will make their community proud with something salvaged as their senior team is struggling at the bottom of the log.
