Hwange’s Kachecheti ward councillor Givemeagain Moyo has set up a donation appeal for a 61-year-old villager who is in a critical condition after being gored by a charging buffalo last week at her homestead.
Elizabeth Ndlovu from Mpumelelo village was attacked by the male the buffalo near her goats kraal last week.
The buffalo had reportedly strayed out of its Forestry Commission sanctuary which is adjacent to Mpumelelo village.
According to her husband Orchard Mpofu, the villagers had to pick his wife’s protruding intestines after it gored her in the stomach, causing her to immediately lose consciousness.
Ngwenya was immediately ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo after the family were charged to pay for the ambulance and over US$600 was quoted for her operation at the government- run institution.
Although she was operated by Friday, after they had to sell one of their beasts, the family is still in short of US$170 that they are supposed to clear for her operation.
They also need money for her injections, pills and dressing among other medical sundries.
“Villagers, our mother needs medical assistance to buy medication and according to the quotation that we got, she needs US$110 for that, therefore, we appeal for donations form US$1 towards her treatment expenses.”
