A two-year-old Lupane toddler died after being mistakenly burnt by another five- year – old attempting to remove a tin full of boiling water from the stove.
According to a statement by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the toddler from Chief Mabhiwa jurisdiction died on Thursday last week when the mother of the two children had left them alone.
The child died due to severe injuries.
“A two year minor succumbed to hot water burns which he incurred from an accident that happened at Sibangani village 2 in Lupane when another child (5) tried to remove a tin of boiling water from the stove.” police said.
“The mother of the two children (37) had left the children alone and went to the garden,”
On the same day, another two year old toddler died after drowning in a shallow well whilst playing alone.
“On 23/02/23 another two year old minor drowned in a shallow well at Wakufa village in Gwelutshena whilst playing alone. ”
“The mother of the child (29) later checked for the child only to find the child’s lifeless body submerged in water and legs stuck in the mud,”
Police urged parents and guardians to always ensure the safety and safety of children.
