Late Matabeleland North ’s Zanu PF provincial secretary conferred liberation hero status

Zanu-PF has conferred liberation hero status to a Binga party member Silos Magodyo who died on December 20, 2022.

Magodyo was born on  5 June 1971 in Mataala village under Chief Sinakoma and was nine years when the country attained independence in 1980.

He joined politics as a youth member on a PF-Zapu ticket in 1985 and held several positions in the party in Binga.

Magodyo served as Zanu-PF DCC Secretary for Commissariat between 2004 and 2008 and at his time of death he was provincial secretary for the disabled and disadvantaged persons in Matabeleland North Province since 2021.

He was ward coordinator in Sinakoma for the Ministry of Youth from 2002 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2018 when he retired.

The party leadership said he continued with the positive spirit of serving the ruling party and Government after his retirement.

In a statement, the party’s Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu said: “The President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa has conferred liberation hero status to the late Cde Silas Magodyo who passed on 20 December 2022and will be buried at Binga cemetery.”

Magodyo also acted as Chief Sinakoma of Binga from 1998 to 2011.
