A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for stealing from a friend who had accommodated him after a night of drinking at a bar.
James Sibanda stole a Redmi Note 13 pro phone from his host’s home in Hwange.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the brief facts are that on October 5, Sibanda and the complainant (55) had been drinking beer at Ko-Mpofu bar.
Afterwards, they went to the complainant’s home to sleep.
The complainant woke up the following morning to find Sibanda gone and his phone missing.
He reported the matter to the police, leading to Sibanda’s arrest and the recovery of the stolen phone.
Sibanda pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
