A Security manager and a security guard at Garlpex Investments (Private) Limited have been granted ZWG 3 000 bail after allegedly stealing mining equipment worth USD194 500 in Hwange.
Fungai Mufundirwa (38) and Kaseba Cosmas Ngwenya (72) were arraigned before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court for their alleged roles in the theft.
According to the State, the duo directed two men to find buyers for the mining equipment in July. The equipment was subsequently sold to a buyer from Bulawayo for USD3 000 cash, who then sold it to a Chinese company in Bulawayo.
However, Mufundirwa and Ngwenya allegedly made a false Police report, claiming that the equipment had been stolen.
Investigations led the Police to the buyer, who implicated the accused persons, leading to their arrest on July 24, despite the recovery of no stolen property
The accused persons are expected to appear in court again soon to answer to the charges.
