The annual Matabeleland North Agricultural Show (MNSS) kicked off on Wednesday, featuring a diverse range of exhibitors from both the private and public sectors.
As of end of day, various exhibitors were still setting up their stands and preparing the premises.
Held at the Show Grounds in Hwange town, the event is organized by the Matabeleland North Show Society and will run until Saturday.
This year’s theme is “Revolutionising the local resource capital through value addition and beneficiation.”
According to MNSS chair Micheck Marandu, there is a significant number of new exhibitors, including government ministries and private sector entities.
Marandu expressed satisfaction with the preparations, stating, “We have generally done basic preparedness and are doing final touches. Three-quarters of exhibitors are on site and happy with the state of preparedness. We have addressed the issue of water and underground fires. The farmers’ hall has been properly extended.”
The official opening will take place on Saturday.
The show has a rich history, dating back to 1950 when it was known as the Wankie Show Society.
In 2019, it was rebranded as a provincial show and renamed the Matabeleland North Agricultural Show.
It is affiliated with the National Association of Agricultural Show Societies of Zimbabwe.
With renovations and new structures in place, the Show Society is expecting a bigger and better show this year.
