Lloyd Burati, Ronald Kukuya, and Kukuya’s wife, Sithengimpilo Ngwenya, appeared before Victoria Falls Magistrate Court on initial appearance on Friday, accused of possessing 210 grams of methamphetamine worth US$1,050.
The trio faces charges of contravening Section 67(1)(3) of S.I 150 of 1991 of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control (General) Regulations, 1991, and Section 38(3) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act Chapter 15:03.
According to the police memorandum, Burati was arrested on August 29, after detectives received information that he was in possession of dangerous drugs at his residence. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of one sachet of substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Kukuya, who was allegedly selling drugs to Burati. When detectives approached the two accused persons, Kukuya ingested two sachets of drugs, which were later recovered from his room.

On August 30, Kukuya’s wife, Sithengimpilo Ngwenya, was also jointly charged and appeared in court alongside her husband.
The accused persons were legally represented by Givemore Muvhiringi of Muvhiringi and Associates, while the state was represented by Public Prosecutor Josephine Gurazhira.
Magistrate Linda Dzvene presided over the case and remanded the accused persons in custody for bail ruling this Monday after police asked for more time to investigate the case.
