A spate of brutal murders has shaken rural Matabeleland North province, leaving authorities and communities reeling.
In the past week, two gruesome incidents occurred in Nkayi and Binga, highlighting a disturbing trend of violent conflicts.
In Nkayi, Fanuel Dube (45) was arrested for allegedly murdering Nothando Dube (45) with an axe in a field in Makuthi Village.
The motive remains unknown. Meanwhile, in Lusulu, Zenzo Ncube (39) killed his wife, Zenzele Sibanda (34), with a hammer after a domestic dispute, before taking his own life by ingesting poison.
These tragic events have prompted the Zimbabwe Republic Police to express concern over the increasing number of murder cases, often stemming from domestic disputes, infidelity, and trivial matters.
Alarmingly, some cases involve minors aged 7-17, who have been embroiled in fatal altercations while engaged in everyday activities.
The police are urging citizens to adopt peaceful conflict resolution methods and respect human life.
They are also calling on community leaders to promote a culture of law-abiding citizens and address the root causes of these violent incidents.
