Chidobe Kachecheti Football League (CHIKA) Independence Day cup winners Masters Football Club have received a major boost after getting the ticket to represent CHIKA in an Africa Day cup final against Victoria Falls’ Division One side Mosi Rovers.
Masters, who beat Dragon Football Club 4 -3 on penalties in what was dubbed the best ever football extravaganza in a rural areas, got the invitation from the Independence cup sponsors, PoweReady Safaris who felt it will be fit for rural and urban winners to meet on May 25 to celebrate Africa Day.
“Let’s celebrate Africa day with the winners getting $350,” PoweReady representative Bheki Sibanda announced.
He said there were still negotiations underway for the final to be played in the rural area at Sinyore Stadium instead of Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls.
Playing the final at Masters’ home ground, according to the team officials, will be an advantage as it will help in marketing their newly formed CHIKA league.
Meanwhile, local fans have applauded CHIKA for the successful hosting of the tournament.
Speaking during the awards ceremony, the village head of Chidobe Number 1 ward Ndaba Mpofu said he was pleased that local people were taking sport as a business.
