A 49-year-old Mvuthu villager has died by suicide, community leaders have confirmed.

Bernard Sialuwa-Phiri of BH23 was found dead after allegedly taking his own life by hanging at BH8 in Mvuthu.

His body was taken to the Victoria Falls Mortuary, where it remains under the care of police pending completion of the necessary procedures.

Kachechete Ward 3 councillor Given Moyo said the body is expected to be collected from the mortuary on Wednesday, with burial set for Thursday morning at the family home in BH23.

Moyo expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged the community to support them during the mourning period.

“We comfort the relatives, friends and neighbours on the loss of our loved one. We say may they find strength from Jehovah,” Moyo said.

He also called on villagers to rally around the family as they grieve.

“Let us draw close to them and help them as we usually do during such difficult times,” he said.
