Members of National Assembly are pushing for a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s healthcare priorities, focusing on rural infrastructure and the management of long-term illnesses.
MP Joseph Cumanzala has formally challenged the Ministry of Health and Child Care to clarify “what measures are being taken to improve healthcare services in Binga District, particularly in rural areas”. The legislator further demanded an update on
strategies to “reduce incidence of malaria and waterborne diseases in the Zambezi Valley” and questioned whether there are plans to “upgrade and expand healthcare facilities” in response to regional population growth.
In a parallel effort to address national health gaps, MP Discent Bajila moved for the House to adopt a report regarding a “petition from Mr. Ngwenya and Ms. Nhango on the prevention and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)”. Bajila also sought clarity on pediatric health, asking for any data regarding the “prevalence of developmental and growth disorders among children born to parents who received Covid-19 vaccination”
